PRESENTER 2 (FAITH): AND I AM FAITH OLORUNTOBA. YOU’RE WELCOME.

PRESENTER 1 (LILIAN):  SO TODAY WE’RE GOING TO BE TALKING ABOUT THE DREADED EBOLA VIRUS.

ACCORDING TO THE WORLD HEALTH ORGANIZATION, THE EBOLA VIRUS IS THE WORLD’S MOST VIRULENT DISEASE. ISNT IT FAITH?

PRESENTER 2 (FAITH): YES. THAT ADJECTIVE “DREADED” IS INDEED APT. BECAUSE EBOLA VIRUS IS THE LATEST HEALTH SCARE IN WEST AFRICA.

ACCORDING TO WORLD HEALTH STATISTICS, OVER 400 PEOPLE HAVE LOST THEIR LIVES. EBOLA VIRUS IS NOT NEW. IT HAS ITS FIRST OUTBREAK IN THE DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO AND SUDAN. BUT EARLY THIS YEAR IT WAS REPORTED IN GUINEA, SIERRA LEONE AND LIBERIA. AND IT IS REALLY ALARMING BECAUSE WE ARE NEIGHBOURS.

SO IT IS A SOURCE OF CONCERN. EARLY YESTERDAY, THE HEALTH COMMISSIONER FOR LAGOS STATE, JIDE IDRIS, SAID THAT LAGOS IS TAKING PRECAUTIONS SO EBOLA DOESN’T ENTER INTO LAGOS. IMAGINE IF IT ENTERS INTO LAGOS.

PRESENTER  1 (LILIAN): THAT IS SO SCARY. OK. SO WE HAVE A GUEST ON TODAY’S SHOW. A DOCTOR WHO WILL BE EDUCATING US. HE IS WIN. COMMANDER JOHNSON UDODI, A DOCTOR WITH THE NIGERIAN AIRFORCE, A GENERAL PRACTITIONER AND CURRENTLY THE COMMANDING OFFICER OF THE MOBILITY COMMAND, YENOGOA, BAYELSA. YOU’RE WELCOME SIR.

Below them are the Production Secretary, who keeps a record of all programmes aired and is in charge of the log book; Senior Producer, who assigns announcers, schedules studios, arranges record sessions, produces commercials and direct programmes; and Presenter, who does the actual presentation of programmes on-air. He is heard by the listeners.
Next are the Reporters/, who cover local, international, business and sporting events and edit news stories; Producers, who can be producers for entire programmes or for the portions of a programme.
Then there is the Music Library, headed by a Music Director who manages the station’s music library and works with the Head of Department Programmes in selecting recordings to be played as they submitted by record label
Below is the Studio Engineer, who heads the technical staff. He is the senior technical staff at the station. He is responsible for the technology necessary to air the station’s programmes. He works to maintain the station’s broadcast’s capabilities and provide quick solutions to problems that may arise with the transmitter, tower, satellite receiver, audio console and other related equipment.
Finally, there is the Disc Jockey. He entertains the listeners with good music and answers the music requests of his listeners.
Observations
The general organisational structure for both stations and the organisational structure of Radio Continental was straight to the point and easy to understand at a glance.
The sub-organisational structures for TVC news and its bureaus were not so easy to understand, although detailed and comprehensive.
The organisational structure for the station might change slightly when TVC Nigeria is officially launched as we were informed on our visit to the station.
